The The Office (US) cast, sorted
The Office is a show about people who did not choose each other and cannot quite leave. A paper company in Scranton is a small world, and the series treats it like a large one. Everyone wants something the job cannot give: recognition, an exit, a love story, a quiet hour. Fans keep rewatching it because the desperation is funny until, without warning, it is not.
The central fault line is Michael. Some viewers see a lonely man who wants an office to be a family and deserves more patience than he gets. Others see a boss whose need for approval does real damage on a weekly basis. The show seems to know both are true. What it never lets him do is stop wanting to be loved, and that is the engine of most of its best episodes.
Jim and Pam are the romance everyone cites, and the better argument is about what the romance costs. Jim shows his feelings in jokes for years and then in one risky afternoon. Pam spends years deferring her own plans and has to learn how to ask for them. Dwight, meanwhile, is both the show's prime target and, in many ways, its most consistent moral center. He is exact about loyalty, and the show slowly lets viewers love him for it.
The rest of the floor works as a series of boundaries. Angela polices them. Oscar competently crosses them when he must. Stanley stops caring about anyone else's, and has never apologized for it. Andy is the character who most wants the office to approve of him and the least able to read when it does not. The show keeps returning to the same question: who is allowed to take up space, and what does it cost the people around them?
The quiz works from workplace choices rather than catchphrases. You will be asked what you would do when a boss declares mandatory fun, when a prank war breaks out, when someone needs help and the paperwork gets in the way. Each answer points toward the character who would most likely make the same call, and the highest total wins.
